The History of the Mpumalanga Cycling Union.

In 1995 the Mpumalanga Cycling Union was formed. The union is affiliated to the South African Cycling Federation and then catered mainly for the the serious and  competive cyclists. In November 1997 the Mpumalanga Cycling Union changed it's constitution in order to bring the social riders under their wings. This now meant that all cyclists would fall under one controlling body  which also fell in line with the National Sport Council's policy.

All cyclists according to the amended constitution, receive either a full licence which enables them to be chosen for their province or national team, or a cyclo-sport licence which allows them to particpate in all licensed or fun rides but cannot be chosen to represent their province or country.
